“free-for-all” checker day

Gary Wilson and Leon Creek continue to rejuvenate Kentucky checkers. They are planning to have a “free-for-all” checker day at the Lexington Senior Center on Friday, November 8th, 2013 ( 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), If you plan to attend, let Leon know by October 25th. (map) We had around 7-9 players attending our session and hope it will grow into a good group of players who enjoy playing checkers and want to improve on their checker skills. We are scheduling these meetings for every other month and perhaps monthly if we find enough players and interest. (good group of 9 players). You should confirm the date by contacting Leon. They now have nine players who are interested in supporting this Kentucky checker group effort, so if you are near by or in this area please get involved.

We had five players to attend our December session and hope it will grow
into a good group of players who enjoy playing checkers and want to improve
on their checker skills. We are scheduling these meetings for every other
month and perhaps monthly if we find enough players and interest.

the Illinois Open, you should confirm the date by contacting Leon. They now have

We had our checker party in Lexington on Sunday,
3/31. Eight players attended. They were: A. Mays, G. Wilson, D. Brattin, L.
Creek, B. Woolum, J. Askins, T. Williamson, and B. Gullette. No one showed any
interest in reporting scores. We played whatever kind of checkers we wanted and
all seemed to have a good time. Our next meeting is scheduled tentatively for
Friday, June 14th, and of course you should call in advance and get last
minute info. Leon Creek.

They were: Arthur Mays, Gary Wilson, Don Brattin, Leon Creek, Charles Woolum, and Ted Williamson. There were two women who helped with the checker party. No one showed any interest in reporting scores. We played whatever kind of checkers we wanted and all seemed to have a good time.
